Craig Dunkelberger was born on August 21,1956 and entered into heaven on October 19, 2024. He was born into the family of the late Wayne and Joan Dunkelberger. Craig was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilbert and Pauline Depew and Isaiah and Ruby Dunkelberger. He is survived by his three sisters, Sherry Oberlin, Rachelle (Jad) Terrebonne and Starr (Masood) Kouchak. Surviving nephews and niece are Paul Terrebonne, Gordon (Cassie) Oberlin, Wayne (Jamie) Oberlin, and Amy (Curtis) Baker along with his great nephews, Henry, Finn, and Jaxton Baker. As a teenager Craig and two of his sisters began riding a Sunday school bus to Covey Hill Baptist church in Gobles, Michigan pastored by Bro. Den Karrow. Soon after they started attending church all three of them trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Craig did not let his disabilities hinder him from enjoying an active life in the community with many of his friends. He enjoyed bowling, Pathways job programs, and church attendance. He had a knack for troubleshooting and repairing electronic devices. Unfortunately, after a long illness he spent the later years of his life in a nursing home. Yet he still enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. His favorite meal was a McDonalds fish sandwich, french fries, and unsweetened tea. Craig had a knack for word search puzzles to the point where he could solve them upside down and backwards. He had an amazing ability to solve Sudoko puzzles. He also enjoyed watching the Game Show Network and MeTV. His favorite programs included Columbo, Streets of San Francisco, Walker-Texas Ranger, and the Rockford Files. Craig was Rachelle’s silent partner whenever she was sharing the gospel to the residents and employees of the nursing home and hospitals during her many visits to see her brother. Over the years they were able to see untold numbers of people trust Christ as their Savior. During his last six weeks of his life Rachelle and Craig were able to lead thirty-one people to the Lord including Craig’s personal physician. Craig’s lived the life of a conqueror and overcomer. He was a fighter to the end and an inspiration to all of us who face difficulties in life. His passing was precious in the eyes of the Lord. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 2:00PM at Memory Lane Funeral Home 6305 W Lincoln Highway, Crown Point. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
