Reva Conger

Reva Alberta Conger (Gillespie), age 90, of Schererville, IN, entered Heaven on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Reva is survived by her children: Darin (Kim) Conger, Alisa Nagella and Jim (Hollie) Conger; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. Reva was preceded in death by her parents, Gardner and Alberta Gillespie; brothers: Delmar Gardner Gillespie, James Edgar Gillespie; sisters: Arlene Gillespie, Neoma Gillespie, Glenola Sue Gillespie, Alta Sutherland; daughter Lynn Renee Conger. Reva will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed greatly. Reva loved to bowl and played the piano beautifully when she was younger. She traveled when newly married and loved adventure. She was passionate about adoption and inspired her daughter and granddaughter to be foster parents. Reva has called many states home over her 90 years, but she moved to Indiana with her 4 children to follow God’s Will. She was an active long time member of her church, First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN. She worked in the finance department of the church for over 30 years and retired in 2011. She has remained an active member by soulwinning weekly and attending the Philippines Women's Missionary Circle. Reva was very passionate about giving to the church, specifically the missionaries. She supported them every chance she could. She still attended church three times a week when able to physically do so. Reva was a generous benefactor to numerous charities, with the church and missionaries as her main priority. Reva loved her family. She was happy to just sit and be with family. Reva always remembered everyone’s birthday and sent a card for any and every occasion. If you had ever gifted her anything, you surely received a thank you from her. Reva had just turned 90 before she went to meet Jesus and she was able to have a celebration of life in the hospital. Her room was full of balloons, flowers and gifts and she had the entire floor celebrating with her. Reva had the best smile and it will be missed by many. There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memory Lane Funeral Home 6305 W. Lincoln Hwy Crown Point, IN 46307. Funeral service will be on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment to follow.
