Manuel Rodriguez, 78, of Lansing Illinois passed away peacefully February 24th 2022 surrounded by his three children and beloved wife. He was born January 25th 1944 to Cipriana Colunga and Gilberto Rodriguez, both proceeded by death. Manuel was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his children: Jennifer Myers (Chris), Ivan Gonzalez (Heather), Julissa Rodriguez, and Jessica Rodriguez. Loving stepfather to Gabriela Cardenas (Miguel), and Jasmin Gonzalez (Luis) and grandfather to 13 grandchildren. Manuel enjoyed playing chess, gardening, spending time with his family & pets, long car rides, food and sweets. Manuel will always be remembered as a loving friend, a prankster with the best jokes, the man with wisdom beyond his years, and a moral compass like no other. He was the most loyal and dependent family member and friend through and through. Manuel Rodriguez, United States Air Force, honorably served America from 1965-1968 for a total of 3 years. During that time he served as a material facility specialist. He served in the Vietnam War and during his service he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. The distinctive accomplishments of Manuel Rodriguez reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. located at Memory Lane Funeral Home 6305 W. Lincoln Hwy, Crown Point, IN 46307.
