Carolyn Sue (Evans) Mosby, “Sudie” age 86 born in Harrisburg, Illinois, on February 8th, 1936. Recently of Steger, Illinois went to Heaven early Thursday morning on July 21st, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Carolyn Sue “Sudie” Evans Mosby was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Burdett Edward Mosby. Sudie is survived by her 3 Children Dana spouse of Garry Nail from Crown Point, Indiana, Gayla spouse of Gerry Maya from Steger, Illinois and Christopher Mosby husband of Becky of Fenton, Michigan. She was also preceded in death by her sister Doris Ann Evans Vinson, of Park Forest, Illinois, and her brother Everett Earl “Bud” Evans, of Vienna, Illinois. She is survived by her younger sister Linda Lou Evans Anderson of Moultrie, Georgia. Sudie was the cherished Mema of 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren. She also has countless nieces and nephews. Sudie was the third of 4 children born to William Cecil and Lois Eileen Evans. She spent her childhood in the small community of Doris Heights. She then met her sweetheart in 1954. After they eloped, she worked at a café as her sweetheart had enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany for over 2 years. After his discharge they worked the farm for a time and then moved to Steger, Illinois. She then found her calling, she was a Nursing Assistant at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights, Illinois, in the newborn nursery for over 40 years. Sudie has been a long-time dedicated member of Victory Hill Baptist Church, Steger, Illinois. There was never a function or gathering that she did not bake or cook a meal for those in need. Sudie was loved and respected by all. She always thought of the needs of those who had lost a loved one, had someone in the hospital, or a new baby’s arrival. Mema adored her grand-, great-, great-great grandchildren and was adored by them in return. They brought her so much joy and happiness. Her world revolved around what she could teach them, how she could celebrate their successes, and how she could express her love. Sudie, Mom, Mema, you are and will continue to be deeply missed. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. at Victory Hill Baptist Church, 23030 State St. Steger, IL 60475. On Wednesday July 27th another brief viewing will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6305 W. Lincoln Highway (US 30), Crown Point, Indiana.
